Facebook no longer allow you to "Suggest a Friend"

An interesting development of Facebook is the removal of the "Suggest a Friend" on Facebook Pages although, the option is still available to page administrators. Anyone using a call to action that includes the wording "Suggest to Friend" should change this to something like "Please Share". The "Share" Button is not as obvious as the previous "Suggest to Friends", it's located at the bottom of the left hand column.

I'm not sure the reasoning behind this but I assume it's something to do with the imminent changes to Facebook Pages or, is it to encourage more page owners to use Facebook advertising to promote their page?

Let us know your thoughts or, if you have any other information about this recent change.

Social Media Podcast 30 - could this be dot.com 2000 collapse all over again?

In No.30, the first Social Media Podcast of 2011, Gordon White is joined by Kyle Murdoch, Iain Murray, Malcolm White and Lynsey Wight. We chat about the recent valuations being banded around for Facebook, Twitter, Groupon and Linked-in... is this heading for the dot.com collapse of 2000 all over again?

We also look at Quora, DODO Cases (the superb new iPad case ordered by Gordon White), YouTube's new home page, the new iPad 2, Acer Iconia, Skype Video on the iPhone 4, zazzle.co.uk and how Attacat have used a similar idea on their corporate tops. We also talk about the importance of putting references to your on-line sites in your off-line collateral, the need to reset your Facebook privacy after the arrival of "Instant Personalisation" and, DIGG vs Redit vs StumbleUpon.

Closer to home, we look at the new web site for New Media Breakfast and how you can now get all of the information for each event in a single web location. We also have a new Facebook Page for the breakfasts and we've added a feed from the web site to the fatBuzz Iphone App.

You'll hear the usual informal chat, humour and general fun surrounding the whole world of social media culminating in the demonstration of my latest iPad App acquisition and my potential as a music DJ!
